There were a lot of people who wanted Danny Devito to voice Pikachu. Seeing how he's already played an M&M, it wouldn't have been much of a stretch.

Within a couple hours of the trailer dropping there was a parody with Devito’s Frank Reynolds lines in place of Ryan Reynolds.
