Hearing Bernie Mac's voice at the beginning of the trailer was fucking eerie

I have to say, this looks a million times better than any of the other Transformers films. It looks more focused, more simple. It's about a girl and her car, and presumably how she loses it (or it her). Not that I'll watch it, but I'd watch it over the other films based on that trailer.

Agreed. The creative team behind this has repeatedly emphasized that this is a significantly more character-driven film than Bay's franchise and based on this trailer, it doesn't look that that was just lip service.

Maybe they should have gotten rid of Bay a long time ago, but wondering if it isn't a little too late for this ET remake with Transformers. Still don't think it'll hit the numbers of the first few.

I'm getting less an E.T. vibe than a How to Train your Dragon vibe. Maybe Short Circuit would be a better comparison (for those old enough to remember Johnny Five)?

And I agree. This ALMOST looks compelling.

So this is a prequel rather than a reboot? I wasn't a fan of Kubo and the Two Strings but having Knight at the helm suggests things are already in better hands.

However, I wouldn't be surprised to see this contend with Alita: Battle Angel for the bomb of the Holiday season. The last Transformers was universally detested and Solo's box office result hasn't helped these spinoff-type movies.

I'm sure it's being marketed as a prequel, and if it does well could serve as a reboot, kind of like how Xmen has gone about it.
