Trailer: Rough Night

Post by transformers2 »

Doesn't look as good as I hoped it would, but there's no way I'm not seeing a film starring ScarJo, Illana Glazer, Kate McKinnon and Jillian Bell opening weekend.

Hell, Busc thought The Hangover was a retread of Very Bad Things? Wait till he sees this.

Oh, I knew they were ripping off Very Bad Things the minute the premise dropped. Kind of surprised Peter Berg didn't go to the WGA for story credit. And I still maintain that The Hangover is a lightened-up version of Very Bad Things. Of course, Todd Phillips sadly didn't end his film the way Berg did with his (where everyone gets their karmic retribution).

And I might be missing something, but I really don't see the appeal with Jillian Bell. I've seen her in things but she's never made an impression to me. Same thing with Gillian Jacobs (Gillian Anderson was great on Hannibal so it's not a Gillian/Jillian thing).

Outside of the dead stripper plotpoint, I doubt there's any additional similarities to Very Bad Things in this (and even if there is, I'm 500000000000000000% sure this will be funnier than Berg's shitfest).

Says the guy who put Friday Night Lights on his 100 best list. Very Bad Things is Peter Berg's magnum opus.

God damn right.

I love dark comedies, I just found Very Bad Things to be a very poorly-constructed and unfunny one.
