In 1972, director Sydney Pollack shot two days worth of footage of Aretha Franklin recording her gospel album Amazing Grace for a live audience. The footage was intended to be edited into a documentary that would be released by Warner Bros. But despite Franklin's album becoming the most successful gospel album of all-time, studio politics forced Pollack's project onto the shelf. Until now.
