Trailer: Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer

Post by Buscemi »

It looks as if someone watched Ramona and Beezus and Diary of a Wimpy Kid on a bad acid trip and this was the result. Relativity is probably doing a smart move not to release this on either the Rogue or Overture umbrellas (the latter is supposed to be reactivated with the August release of Haywire).

And yes, that is Urkel playing the banjo.

Everything on this post is strictly the opinion and only the opinion of Buscemi.

Actually, this film on first glance looks better than either of the films you mentioned. It's cutesy-poo, but not so much that it makes your blood sugar level overload. And it's certainly not as awkward, mean-spirited or hateful as Wimpy Kid.

The trouble is, it's opening against Super 8, Spielberg's attempt to recapture the family-sci-fi-action magic that he had with E.T. nearly 30 years ago. If it were me, I'd open it in late July (between Winnie the Pooh and Smurfs).
Happy 60th birthday Jet Li! (4/26/23)
