Predict The Number One Movie

Post by Buscemi »

I remember that we did this once at the site before the site before (you know which one). I figured we should bring it back.

Anyways...

11/26: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Actual #1: Harry Potter)
12/3: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Actual #1: Tangled)
12/10: The Chronicles of Narnia (Actual #1: Narnia)
12/17: Tron Legacy (Actual #1: Tron)
12/24: Little Fockers (Actual #1: Fockers)
12/31: Little Fockers (Actual #1: Fockers)
1/7: Little Fockers
1/14: The Green Hornet
1/21: The Green Hornet
1/28: The Rite
2/4: The Rite (I don't expect any opener to get $10 million in this weekend)
2/11: Just Go With It
2/18: Just Go With It
2/25: Drive Angry
3/4: Rango
3/11: Rango
3/18: Rango (once again, I can't see any opener hitting $10 million)
3/25: Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2
4/1: Hop (it's the only thing opening but I can't see a movie about a rock 'n' roll Easter bunny voiced by Russell Brand being a hit)
4/8: Rio
4/15: Scream 4 (will probably perform similar to Friday the 13th)
4/22: Madea's Big Happy Family
4/29: Fast Five
So Far: 5/6

Everyone can do their own.

What the hell, but I don't expect a lot of differentiation.

11/26 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
12/3 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
12/10 The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
12/17: Tron Legacy
12/24: Little Fockers
12/31: Little Fockers
1/7: Season of the Witch
1/14: The Green Hornet
1/21: The Green Hornet
1/28: The Rite
2/4: Sanctum (I think The Rite will win its OW, but take a tumble big enough to let Cameron's latest baby in)
2/11: Just Go With It
2/18: Just Go With It
2/25: Drive Angry
3/4: Rango
3/11: Rango
3/18: Paul (taking a flyer, hoping Universal will promote this heavy enough to beat Rango's third week)
3/25: Sucker Punch
Happy 60th birthday Jet Li! (4/26/23)

Advertising has been weak so far on Sanctum. Early trailer word has been negative and Cameron isn't promoting it (due to development of the Avatar sequels). Also, the rumored R rating might not help it.

As for Paul, the UK is getting it a month early so that could lead to bootlegs appearing or limited interest if word of mouth is poor. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it outgrossed Scott Pilgrim.

Looks like I'm the only person who sees Sucker Punch being a bomb. And Tron: Legacy isn't going to be that big.
