Robert Guillaume, who gained fame playing the character Benson DuBois on Soap and again on Benson, passed away at age 89 on October 24.

His most famous role was probably Rafiki the wise baboon in The Lion King.

Also passing on October 24 was 50's R&B singer Fats Domino, who also was 89. His biggest hits included "Blueberry Hill", "Ain't That a Shame", and "I'm Walking".

All I could see on the news article was that she suffered from cancer. Not sure which kind.

Our first celebrity casualty of 2018 is Jerry Van Dyke, who passed on January 5 at the age of 86.

He appeared in many TV shows across the decades like "My Mother the Car" and "Coach". His last recurring role was on "The Middle".

One of my favorite singers, Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries, has passed away at the age of 46.

Damn. It. I saw her perform three times in the 90s, and she rocked the house every time. I adored her sultry Irish tones, and I had thoughts of attending their planned US tour this year.

Been a while since we've had a noteworthy celebrity death. Which, I guess, is a good thing, given that a year ago at this time we were losing stars left and right.

Actor David Ogden Stiers, probably most famous for his role as the snooty Maj. Charles Emerson Winchester III in the latter seasons of M*A*S*H, passed away on March 3 at the age of 75.

I loved M*A*S*H growing up, even before I really knew what the Korean War was. Sadly, the number of cast members that have passed on from the show now outnumbers the ones still living.

GONE:
McLean Stevenson
Larry Linville
Wayne Rogers
Harry Morgan
William Christopher
David Ogden Stiers

STILL HERE:
Alan Alda
Mike Farrell
Gary Burghoff
Loretta Swit
Jamie Farr

Winnie Mandela, wife of Nelson Mandela, passed away on April 2 at the age of 81.

Soon-Tek Oh, Korean actor who was in The Man With the Golden Gun, Mulan, and Beverly Hills Ninja (as well as numerous appearances on M*A*S*H), passed away on April 4 at the age of 74.

Johnny Valiant, WWF wrestler (who appeared as himself in The Wrestler), passed away on April 4 at the age of 71.
