Irish rocker Gary Moore passed away yesterday at the age of 58.

Best recognized as a blues rock guitarist and singer, in a career dating back to the 1960s, Moore played with artists including Phil Lynott and Brian Downey as early as his secondary school days, leading him to membership with the Irish rock band Thin Lizzy on three separate occasions. Moore shared the stage with such blues and rock luminaries as B.B. King, Albert King, Colosseum II, Greg Lake and Skid Row (not to be confused with the glam metal band of the same name), as well as having a successful solo career. He guested on a number of albums recorded by high profile musicians, including a cameo appearance playing the lead guitar solo on "She's My Baby" from Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3.

Six, just how big was he in his native Ireland?

Yeah, it was on the 9pm News on TV and a few of my rocker friends noted it on Facebook. He's mostly associated with Thin Lizzy. Not a household name, but he will be missed.

Director Gary Winick passed away last night at the age of 49. Over his career, he was mostly a director of romantic comedies (13 Going On 30, Bride Wars, Letters to Juliet) and light entertainment (Charlotte's Web) but he was also a producer and pioneer of digital filmmaking, being the founder of Indigent (short for Independent Digital Entertainment) and helping finance and produce films such as Pieces Of April, Tadpole, Personal Velocity, Lonesome Jim and Tape. Cause of death is unknown as the moment.

Jane Russell has passed away at the age of 89. The actress, most famous for her work with Howard Hughes and voluptuous figure, appeared in films such as The Outlaw, The French Line and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. After her retirement from films in 1970, she continued work on stage and television. She was also a major supporter of adoption and was involved with a few major adoption bills through her work in the World Adoption International Fund. She is survived by her three children.

Just found this blurb on IMDb.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Singer Nate Dogg, whose near monotone crooning anchored some of rap's most seminal songs and helped define the sound of West coast hip-hop, has died at age 41.

Attorney Mark Geragos said Nate Dogg, whose real name was Nathaniel D. Hale, died Tuesday of complications from multiple strokes.

Nate Dogg wasn't a rapper, but he was an integral figure in the genre: His deep voice wasn't particularly melodic, but it's tone — at times menacing, at times playful, yet always charming — provided just the just the right touch on hits including Warren G's "Regulate," 50 Cent's "21 Questions," Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode" and countless others.

While Nate Dogg provided hooks for rappers from coast to coast, the Long Beach, Calif., native is best known for his contributions to the West Coast soundtrack provided by the likes of Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, the Dogg Pound and more. Nate Dogg was even part of a "supergroup" featuring Snoop Dogg and Warren G, called 213.

Nate Dogg also put out his own solo projects but was best known for his collaborations with others.

He had suffered strokes in recent years.

Another veteran actor has passed away.

Bruce Wayne has lost his best friend and father figure.

Michael Gough, the actor who helped the Caped Crusader out of jams as Alfred the butler in Tim Burton's Batman and starred in dozens of films over a career that spanned five decades, died Thursday. He was 94.

After being tapped for Alfred Pennyworth in 1989's Batman, Gough reprised the part in 1992's Batman Returns, also directed by Burton, as well as two Joel Schumacher-helmed sequels, 1995's Batman Forever and 1997's atrocious Batman and Robin. But he did so much more.

The Malaysian-born thesp made his feature debut in 1947's Blanche Fury and worked extensively in British films opposite a who's who of legendary actors from Vivien Leigh and Ralph Richardson to Sir Laurence Olivier and Christopher Lee. He also appeared on British TV, most notably in several guest stints in the sci-fi cult series Doctor Who. He also gained horror fans with several Hammer flicks to his credit, including 1958's Dracula and 1962's The Phantom of the Opera.

Among his Hollywood credits are The Boys From Brazil, Out of Africa, The Fourth Protocol, The Serpent and the Rainbow, and The Age of Innocence. His final big-screen role came in 1999's Sleepy Hollow, which reunited him with Burton, but he also lent his voice to 2005's Corpse Bride, which the filmmaker produced.

No announcements have been made regarding funeral plans for the late actor.

(Actually, according to IMDb, his last credited role was as the Dodo Bird in last year's Alice in Wonderland film.)

Actually, Burton did not just produce Corpse Bride, he directed it. Contrary to Nightmare before Christmas ;)

Yep. One film that failed to make any of our Top 100's was the excellent Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Amazing dialogue and two of the best performances I've ever seen.

Sad news indeed. Even sadder is the fact her last film will always be The Flintstones...
