Re: Top 100 Movie Countdown
Add Helena (aka The Green Arrow) to the list Shryke, I was talking about my list and she has decided she wanted to contribute and has compiled a list of 100, but not organised it as of yet. I don't know if there will be any comments from her, I'll try to get a line or so, but she will at least have a list. I'll make sure she has the first batch to you before the countdown begins.
Re: Top 100 Movie Countdown
I should probably start on this thing...
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

Re: Top 100 Movie Countdown
I hammered away at it over the weekend and sorted out a preliminary order for my 110 movies. It will probably change in the future a little here and there, but by and large I'm satisfied. Just got to start writing my comments now and post them in.

Re: Top 100 Movie Countdown
I got it narrowed down to the 110 films in question.
They include:
a) 15 purely animated films.
b) only two films that came out prior to Star Wars, including one B/W film.
c) around 10 films either based on a superhero comic or graphic novel, or an original work with a definite "superhero" motif.
Putting them in order is going to be tough.

Re: Top 100 Movie Countdown
Wow! Only two films prior to 1977? Probably half of my list is from before Star Wars! Off the top of my head I think I have around 8 or 9 animated movies, as well as a similar no. of comic movies. It's going to be interesting, as apart from a few movies, I do believe these lists will be just as varied as the music lists. Disappointed to see no female participation in this other than Helena. Any idea if becs was wanting to take part?
Also, I think it's helped having done the music list as a basis for ordering my list.

Only about one-fourth of my list is before Star Wars.

Ha! I never realised Shryke had missed out the guy who thought the whole project up. I guess that's what you get for passing the buck and leaving Shryke with all the hard work...

Re: Top 100 Movie Countdown
Got my list done today! Thanks for giving me a reason to stop procrastinating guys, I'm only 10 months behind when I normally have it updated. All done and ready to go. A lot more animated films than I have ever had before, and I'm with Shryke, only a few movies made before Star Wars. Can't wait to kick this off.

That is true. We can always rely on Shryke to make everything look pretty. All fur and no knickers, mind, but at least it looks nice... [wink]

Re: Top 100 Movie Countdown
Okay, I've done my 110-101.
I realize, looking at my list from top to bottom, that there are going to be very few Oscar darlings. My favorite films are definitely connected to their re-watchability. I'm also rather surprised that I had to cut every Harry Potter film (I guess I love it more as a whole story than as individual chapters) and every James Bond story. I only count four sequels on the list, and only one trilogy will have all three films represented.

Re: Top 100 Movie Countdown
oh, i wonder i wonder what trilogy?
Anyway, i i know its a bit early but i want to start naming some honourable mentions, before we get into the nitty gritty.
Some that just missed out were;
Das Boot - Still only seen once
Bad Lieutenant - very close call
South Park: The Movie - as above
The Princess Bride - gone down after a few years
Forrest Gump -as above
Aliens -second half failure
Lethal Weapon -couldnt fit above any, woulda made no. 115 or something
The Bank -just a smidge not good enough
Bowling for Columbine - started to dislike after few years
The Game - havent seen in ages, probably woulda got in top 50 3 or 4 years ago
A New Hope - i daresay anything
