Favorite Characters Of The 1980's

Post by Buscemi »

Seeing that we haven't been very enthusiastic about Entertainment Weekly's list of the best characters from the past 20 years, I decided to create a better and different list: favorite characters from the 1980's! In this contest, we can pick movie, television, book, video game, any type of character. It just has to fit the criteria of having a 1980's introduction date. 1980's reboots of older characters do not count (meaning 1980's Batman is ineligible).

People didn't even seem to be interested in it.

This time, I will not use a tournament but a simple ranking system. Everyone posts a list and things get ranked from there.

John Blutarsky came in 1978. He doesn't count. And Gilligan was a creation of the 1960's.

I may need a second opinion on The Smurfs. The characters have been around since the late 1950's (with an animated feature made in 1976 that wasn't released until 1983 in the US) but the current incarnation didn't start until the 1980's.

Watchmen was written in 1985.

The Stand came in 1978 so it doesn't count.
