Roma does seem like the kind of film that gets forgotten after the Oscars outside of critics circles.
It's not destroying. It's making something new.

It's kind of like that for most BP nominees. What's the last winner that will stand the test of time? No Country and Departed back to back? Get Out should have won for that reason (and many, many more) last year.Screen203 wrote:Roma does seem like the kind of film that gets forgotten after the Oscars outside of critics circles.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

Green Book was an OK movie, I don't hate it as much as the Internet seems to, as a whole. I don't think the "white savior" trope applies, since it's Vallelonga's story about how he grows with exposure to a black person. He didn't save Don Shirley or "solve racism", he just became a better person.
It winning Best Picture isn't surprising, I'm sure every Academy member over the age of 60 loved it and voted for it down the line.
But Best Original Screenplay? That's a travesty.
