As always, we're going to need some volunteers to write featurette for the 10 Best Picture nominees (I'll take Baby Driver), so just post which one you'd like to fawn over here and I'll add it to the list. Due to the slight delay in the announcement of nominees, I've decided to bump the ceremony date to Sunday March 25th so everyone has a chance to catch up on the nominated films that they haven't gotten a chance to see yet. Now excuse while I spend the next 18 days praying to the cinema gods that I don't derail the ceremony that surfer has ran so beautifully for the past 9 years.

Lady Bird isn't a best Picture nominee, Six
I'll take Good Time if it's alright with everyone.

Overall it's a very solid set of nominees, considering how weak this year has been in terms of films. The best got through, at least with one nomination, except for one film, which is to me the biggest disappointment of our nominations considering it was my favorite US film of 2017 : A Ghost Story.

Since Phantom Thread wasn't nominated, I'll take The Shape of Water.

Re: Reel Society of Film Critics Awards 2018-The Nominees
Not a bad list of nominees at all. Four of my five nominees for Best Picture received a nomination, but I have to echo Chiens sentiments at the lack of love for A Ghost Story. It appeared in so many categories of my ballot, to see it completely omitted was a shame. Still, good to see the likes of Call Me By Your Name, Raw and Lady Macbeth get a few surprising nominations. Funny how not a single one of my Best Actor nominees gained a nomination! Guess despite what I deemed a weaker year over all, there was quite a selection of male performances.
I will take Call Me By Your Name, a truly beautiful movie.

I'm also quite surprised that two of the best directors nominees dont have their film nominated in the best Picture race despite the 10 nominations in that field.

I really loved A Ghost Story, but it's a strange film, almost like a video art installation. Hard to know what category to fit it into!
Generally happy with the list. Glad to see Raw sneak in there. Totally forgot to nominate the David Lynch doc, so glad to see that in. Need to watch a few mor eof the docs soon.

I really hope I can get in Phantom Thread. It hasn't been on around my area that I know of except about an hour and a half away starting at 10 PM. All I really need is Florida Project and Red Turtle and I should have those covered. Some docs too, but I may skip those.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

Re: Reel Society of Film Critics Awards 2018-The Nominees
The Best Director thing stood out to me as well. Craig Gillespie actually received no votes, which was kind of odd considering I, Tonya was a pretty popular Best Picture selection. Nolan got the swell of support that Dunkirk didn't get for Best Picture while Oldroyd narrowly fended off Matt Reeves, Luca Guadagnino and Paul Thomas Anderson for the final spot.

Good list, happy to see most of my favorites all made it through. I'll tip my hand and do the write-up for Coco as well.
Re: Reel Society of Film Critics Awards 2018-The Nominees
It's a pretty good mix of nominees. I'll volunteer to write the feature for Logan.

Re: Reel Society of Film Critics Awards 2018-The Nominees
Im going to have to withdraw from voting. I haven't seen a handful of these movies namely: 3 billboards, the shape of water, phantom thread or any of the docos and a few more. So yeah it feels wrong to vote on something without seeing the other noms.
I will do a write up for Get Out though, loved that movie

Hello all,
The ceremony will start around 2:00 EST (6:00 GMT) on Sunday. You have until the start of the awards to get me your ballots and featurettes. Also I can handle the featurettes for Get Out and I, Tonya, but I'm going to need to someone to do one for War for the Planet of the Apes because there's a 0% chance that I'm capable of heaping any form of non-visual effects praise on that film.
