I think W is right about SNL, but i think i only dug out those classic characters post Anchorman- which im choosing. I think i had watched Old School and Zoolander but didnt really notice him and only saw Elf after Anchorman.

Which leaves us at a 3 way tie between:

Elf
Old School

and
Anchorman
(all with 2 votes a piece)

We need someone to break the tie here....

For the meantime, ill bring up someone else...

Jolie had some early roles in cult fare like Hackers and Foxfire (not so much with Cyborg 2) but I'm going to go outside the box and say Gia. Though it was a TV movie, it opened a lot of doors for her (leading to her getting cast in Girl, Interrupted).

Hackers for me. Like a lot of folk over this side of the world, Gia came out a lot later.

I say after Tomb Raider she was finally able to have her choice of roles.

This may sound lame, but for me it was Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I saw her in stuff before that, but I didn't get the hype. It wasn't until her pairing with Brad Pitt that I thought she broke out in a way that demanded to be noticed.

Mmmm, I'd say "Girl interrupted". I noticed her a bit earlier but in supporting and poor roles, but this was her breakthrough and opened her the doors for better roles.

I didn't see Boogie Nights until 2014 and was the ripe age of 5 when it was released, so I'm going to go with the 1st Wahlberg movie I ever saw: The Italian Job

For me I've got to say Fear. A young Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon in a movie that was way better than it should have been. Not that it was that good, just better than it should have been. And he was really creepy.

I thought about Fear too but at that point, Wahlberg was still thought of as just Marky Mark. Boogie Nights was when people really started seeing him as more than a flash-in-the-pan rap artist that could act some.

Too bad Wahlberg has disowned Fear in recent years. It's still one of his better performances (and one of the few times where he's played a villain).

He's disowned Fear? That is too bad - I think it was a pretty decent step for him at that stage of his career.

Yeah, Wahlberg doesn't like to talk about his earlier films (this also includes The Basketball Diaries and Renaissance Man). He also hates his Marky Mark period (though he will make fun of that on occasion).
