I know Banks did a great column on the films across 2016 that he wants to see, but I thought I might continue with a more specialised look at what's coming out in this third, when we've a better sense of the release schedule. Here's my list
Films I've already seen an liked: Green Room, The Witch, Aferim.
Maybes: The Little Prince, Where to Invade Next, Jane Got A Gun
10 - Certain Women (aka River of Grass): If Kelly Reichardt's retitled film is coming out in March, then count me in.
9 - Knight of Cups: The reviews haven't been great but at worst Malock's films are always visually beautiful.
8 - Viva: Out of national pride I have to see this Irish film... about transexuals in Cuba?
7 - A War: Tobias Lindholm impressed with the under-rated A Hijacking (as well as having written The Hunt). Can't wait for this.
6 - Batman V Superman: I haven't liked the trailers, but it's certainly the must-see if the season.
5 - Before I Wake: As I said last year, before it was pushed, there was enough interesting stuff in Oculus to make me curious about this.
4 - Krisha: I've heard so many great things (including from Chien) about this award-winner that it's a must-see
3 - Hail Caeser: It's the Coens. I've been seeing their films in theatres since The Big Lebowski.
2 - Triple 9: Hillcoat makes tough films, and with this case I'm eager to see what he can come up with.
1 - Midnight Special: Jeff Nichols doing a sci-fi? I'm in

Re: MOST ANTICIPATED FILMS OF 2016 (SPRING EDITION)
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and Hail, Ceaser! are the only ones I'm virtually guaranteed to pay for.
Midnight Special is a maybe, going by the director's track record, even though the trailer makes it look like Cyclops from the X-Men in a rip-off of Stephen King's Firestarter.
The Witch, The Disappointments Room, and The Boy are movies I might watch at home some day so no one can see me over-reacting to the jump scares.
That's about it, although great reviews or a late-arriving trailer might pique my interest in something else before the season's over.

I would recommend seeing The Witch in the cinema, John. Just because of it's intense score and strong visuals. There aren't any real jump scares, so you won't have to hand your man-card in.

Re: MOST ANTICIPATED FILMS OF 2016 (SPRING EDITION)
Coming up with the Tarantino Top reminded me I hadn't listed my 10 most anticipated films of the Spring. Here it is.
10. Remember : Atom Egoyan has been disappointing those last few years but I4ve heard good things about his latest
9. River of Grass : Kelly Reichardt is a no-miss.
8. 10 Cloverfield Lane : that teaser trailer sold me, looks intriguing and I can't get enough of John Goodman.
7. A War : Hijacking was great, I can't wait to see the director's new film.
6. Batman vs Superman : Man of Steel was probably the best superhero film since The Dark Knight so I'm curious to see this sort of sequel.
5. Everybody wants some : Linklater, the 80's, Dazed & Confused vibe... I'm in.
4. Triple 9 : Hillcoat has been a breakthrough up until now, I'll line up for anything he comes up with for now, and this has a hell of a good cast.
3. Hail Caesar : The Coen seem do be getting back to a Big Lebowski type of film, and that can only be great.
2. The Witch : This looks so scary.
1. Midnight Special : This premise is so intriguing, and Jeff Nichols is such an ambitious director. This could be one of the best films of the year, it has the potentiel to be at least.

Re: MOST ANTICIPATED FILMS OF 2016 (SPRING EDITION)
I can't really come up with ten that I'm really looking forward to seeing.
We'll probably end up seeing Superman vs Batman and The Jungle Book. Hoping they are better than my low expectations.
I have some hope for Midnight Special and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny to be better than average.
Kind of cheating here, but my most anticipated film is The X-Files mini series. I know not technically a movie, but I'm more excited for that than just about any movie coming out this year. Hoping it doesn't disappoint.
