Best Motion Picture... The Hurt Locker

Guess they might have to release the movie wide finally?

So amazing! I'm really happy that it won, and this certainly means it will see some more screen time in theatres. The radio DJs were talking about the movies nominated a couple weeks ago, and neither had heard of it and their comment was basically "I don't think its out yet," so hopefully it will now get the notoriety it deserves.

Well, The Hurt Locker swept. Avatar suceeded in underwhelming. Good night for Crazy Heart and Precious. Baldwin and Martin were probably the most pointless hosts in years.

Yea I was just thinking that, very saddening, they should have been great but they basically weren't even involved.

Hopefully, Hurt Locker gets re-released, but I doubt it, since it's on DVD already.

Great win though.

I'm kinda upset Up In The Air was shut out though.

Interesting trivia question: before today, what was the last Best Picture winner NOT to come out during Awards Season (Oct-Dec)? Can someone find out?

Other winners in with that description include Gladiator (2000), American Beauty (1999), Braveheart (1995), Forrest Gump (1994), Unforgiven (1992), and Silence of the Lambs (1991).

Hmm... guess it's no so rare an occurence after all.

Though American Beauty opened in September, it went wide in October.

My fingers and eyes are tired now despite it only being 6 in the evening here, but the other half wants me off the internet now so I guess I better thank her for putting up with me.... btw, for anyone joining late all the awards are on the first page of this thread.

oh well, i guess i'll have to give Hurt Locker another chance, but im really dreading it. Personally, Sandra Bullock winning made watching the long and mostly boring show worth it.
