I think avatar has about 80% chance of winning , 15% going to Inglorious Basterd and 5% for all the other ones.

Surely The Hurt Locker has got to factor in there somewhere as the current favourite???

Yeah, but only because the Academy neglected to give Bigelow a statue for Point Break. She's totally due.

No, from what i saw The Hurt Locker was garbage. If it wins Best Picture i'll give it another shot. But when i saw it back in august I was so bored and there was hardly anything touching to grab on to in the movie. The only moment of slight emotion that i felt in the whole movie was with the main actor trying to save the boy. If i had to rate the nominees in by my favorite it would look as such ( and dont forget my favorite movie of the year isnt even nominated for anything. 500 Days of Summer)

The Blind Side
Up
District 9
Avatar
Inglorious Basterds
Precious
The Hurt Locker

Haven't seen
An Education
Up in the Air
A Serious Man

...However you were commenting on what was most likely to win. Surely The Hurt Locker must have a decent chance, rather than your suggestion that it's Avatar all the way. And am I one of the few who do not see the apparent genius that is Point Break. I mean, it's a cult classic, but more for comedic reasons than anything else. Some pretty cool scenes but the acting is so wooden. Maybe it's just me though....

As for my own personal rankings for Best Picture nominations it'd have to be:

District 9
Up
A Serious Man
Up In The Air
Inglourious Basterds
Avatar

Haven't seen
An Education
Precious
The Blind Side
The Hurt Locker

Weird, the segment where the protagonist "goes rogue" to avenge the kid was one of the only parts I didn't enjoy...

Surfer, just for the record, I genuinely enjoy Point Break despite my sarcasm about it. Hmm. I also liked Speed. Shit. That's TWO Keanu movies I like.

Hey, I'm a fan of The Matrix, A Scanner Darkly, My Own Private Idaho and Bill and Ted. I guess I probably like Keanu a little too much for credibility...

I loved the supporting cast of A Scanner Darkly (Rory Cochrane, Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson) along with the presentation and a lot of the elements of the story...... but I haaated the ending.

I don't think that one guy ruined The Hurt Locker's chances. In fact, Bigelow and Mark Boal were mad at the guy to begin with because he was claiming to be the guy responsible for the film's success and because he was begging Summit to credit him as a producer for the ceremony (in actuality, no one wanted any part of this guy). He's just a guy who wants success, no matter how little he did to really deserve.

Now had Kathryn Bigelow, Mark Boal or the heads of Summit done the same thing, then we would be onto something.
Everything on this post is strictly the opinion and only the opinion of Buscemi.

It makes me want to blow something up... Don't usually get that with this type of music. I should totally put that on my iPod.

It was an awful ending, wasn't it? But then again, the whole thing was a rambling incoherent mess that was only watchable because of Robert Downey Jnr. I'm afraid my appreciation of Keanu doesn't go much beyond Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey

I liked it, including the ending.
