Chien will be happy: Hirokazu Koreeda's new film is in competition.

And I will be happy: The Lobster is in competition!

EDIT: This is the best Cannes lineup in a while

New films by Sorrentino, Joachim Trier, Audiard, Koreeda, Gus Van Sant, Lanthimos, Garrone, as well as Macbeth!

It is. It's really an exciting line-up.
There's also Sicario, the new Denis Villeneuve, in competition !

And so far, 3 Korean films are announced, one in Midnight Screening, "The office", and two at Un Certain regard, "The Shameless" and "Madonna", the latter being from a director which we put under the light at our Korean Film Festival 2 years ago.

And there should be another couple of films announced in the coming days to complete the competition slots. Only 17 for now. It's gonna be so frustrating to be there and not be able to see them all.

Surprised High-Rise and Love aren't in competition. Maybe later, or maybe for one of the other strands.

In the press conference Frémaux specifically said that they received highly anticipated films at the very last minute that they didn't have time to watch yet, hence the few spots still opened in the competition slate. So a few of those seemingly left out will hopefully be announced in the next few days.

I figured Sicario would open Toronto and return to having Canadian-connected movies premiering.

And I thought Barbet Schroeder had retired from filmmaking. So it will be interesting to see a new film from him.

Cannes will only be talking about us once everyone knows we'll both be there. Matthew McConaughey can stay at home.

Here's an interview of Thierry Frémaux in which he says they could add up to four films in competition, and he mentions the fact Wheatley is still working on High Rise but the film could be ready in time : http://www.screendaily.com/festivals/ca ... 70.article
