Spotlight finished third, as Room won (second was an Indian buddy movie called Angry Indian Goddesses).

Room should do serviceable with the award nominations but it could be too low-key for major awards (especially since A24's releasing it and often seem to be unable to figure out how to promote a movie not made for bros or twenty-something Brooklynites, if Fox or Weinstein had it then it would easily make $30-40 million). Also, some could easily get it confused with Tommy Wiseau's The Room.

Definitely a surprise to see Lenny's film take the top spot, but delighted for him. One of the nicest film-makers around.

I think even with A24 distributing the film has potential to do well. They're going to spend every penny they can on it, and it will certainly be their highest-earning film (currently it's Ex Machina with $25m). 30m is certainly a possibility if not more. A higher-profile film may ultimately win the Oscar but I think this win almost guarantees a few nominations at the least.
