Best Movie Poster Of 2013 (and Beyond)
I was looking at the Imp Awards site, which is a great resource that does an annual award for the best movie posters.
I started thinking about what my favourite posters of the year were, and I think I have to go with this one from The Hobbit.
I like how it captures the scale of the movies, and I'm not sure if Alan Lee actually drew it but it sure feels like something he'd do.
I also really liked the posters for The Conjuring and Gravity this year.
Any great ones I forgot?

Best: Nebraska, the You're Next San Diego Comic-Con poster and The Last Stand New York Comic-Con poster.
Worst: nearly every teaser poster for Catching Fire (except the mountain one, which is okay but nothing special). It's as if Lionsgate wasn't even trying with this one.

That one for A Field In England is a nice design, and I forgot about Inside Llewyn Davis, which had terrific posters:

Most entertainingly bizarre poster: the Japanese poster for Nebraska.

Agreed on Davis. Loved the 60s folk design. Also agree on the Gravity posters, this one being my favourite:JohnErle wrote:That one for A Field In England is a nice design, and I forgot about Inside Llewyn Davis, which had terrific posters:

Not being British, wide movie posters always seem odd to me, but the North American version of that same poster is beautiful. I saw it in the theatre the other day and wanted to do a smash and grab.numbersix wrote: Also agree on the Gravity posters, this one being my favourite:

Byzantium
The Grandmaster (perhaps my favourites)
Blue is the warmest color

I like that alternate poster for Blue Is The Warmest Colour. I always liked the main one, too. Very simple but effective. Those Malick ones are kinda boring, though. Other than Malick's name they make the movie look like a disposable romance.
Anyway, one last one:

Re: Best Movie Poster Of 2013
Lots of very nice posters this year, I'm particularly fond of Blue Is The Warmest Color, Spring Breakers and Llewyn Davis. Also, ones I like not posted so far include:
I'm So Excited
Stoker
Room 237
Though to be fair there were a number of cool posters for the film that are also very cool:

Re: Best Movie Poster Of 2013
That Stoker poster suffers from floating head syndrome. Also, the text on the face thing is a little cliche.

Re: Best Movie Poster Of 2013
Bringing this back up for the posters of 2014 so far.
Best so far:
Disappointingly, there haven't been many good ones but the specially-commissioned Godzilla posters (such as Godzilla's spikes forming the title) were good. Other quality posters include the poster for Supermensch (Mike Myers' Shep Gordon documentary), the posters for Stage Fright (a musical horror film), the posters for Godfrey Reggio's Visitors, Willow Creek (Bobcat Goldthwait's found footage movie) and depressingly, Nick Cannon's School Dance (how a film that you know is doing to be dreadful got such a good poster is mind-boggling).
Worst so far:
- Enemy (for being a complete ripoff of Looper's poster)
- Under the Skin (for telling absolutely nothing about the film other than Scarlett Johansson's in it)
- Guardians of the Galaxy (it looks like someone vomited gold plastic and declared that the poster)
- The Other Woman Emoji poster (what were they going for on this poster?)
- Bad Words (I'm sorry but a close-up of Jason Bateman's mouth tells me nothing about the film other than Jason Bateman has a mouth and he speaks in the film)
There have been a lot of other bad ones but I decided to narrow it down to those five.
