If David O. Russell comes to my door, I have a hammer waiting for him. Karma has been waiting.

I'm glad a Canadian feels outraged to be mistaken for an American, although I meant American in a continental way, you just have to forgive us blasphemous French for saying America for North America ;)

Silly Europeans. They're all the same! I will expect less from them in the future.

PS - Try calling a Quebecois "American" sometime and he'll probably slit your face.

A colleague of mine is from Quebec, believe me, I would never EVER call a Quebecois an American. I already barely dare to call them "Canadians" ;)

Ok, mine are in. From what I understand, these votes aren't "weighted" so the order that I put them in doesn't matter. 1 nom = 1 point

I'd share mine, but I think it's too late to influence anyone. And my noms are pretty limited. Turns out I only saw 5 or so great movies this year. lol

No, everybody who lives in an American continent is an "American." US citizens have co-opted the word, and the world has allowed us. But, if you go to Mexico, and say: I'm from America... they're going to know what you mean, but they'll be thinking, "I'm from 'America' too, asshole."

I imagine he appreciates it.
His manager just sent me a lovely gift basket with a hand-written thank you note from Matthew, which was nice, especially knowing that Peter Jackson has been on suicide watch ever since The Hobbit was left off the master list. It's great that these awards are so highly sought-after, but their success is a double-edged sword.

And don't get me started on how all the lobbying threatens to ruin the integrity of the process. Jessica Chastain has been camped outside my apartment all week, and Harvey Wienstein needs to back the fuck off.
Allow me to adjust my monocle so I can read this correctly. ;)

From another room? Psycho style? Sure, go nuts. Not my problem. Maybe he'll learn a few tricks.

I can't speak for how Mexicans feel about it, but I seriously doubt many Canadians would appreciate being called Americans. If you go by the dictionary all African-Americans can be referred to as Negroes, but good luck getting out of Compton alive if you try that in the real world.

If you have enough respect for Quebec's unique culture to refer to them the way they want to be called, I suggest showing the same respect for Canadians, Mexicans, Peruvians, and every other non-American "American".

If you call me North American I won't bat an eyelash, but call me American and it doesn't sit right. Even Wikipedia will back me up on this.
