Best of 2010 (Miscellaneous)

Post by Shrykespeare »

I don't know if we're going to do the "Fantie" Awards this year, but whatever the case, I thought I'd start a thread where we list our favorite things from the movies of 2010, in categories that are more the MTV Movie Awards than the Oscars, as well as a few others. If you guys want to have a collective list or a voting process, so be it. Please limit your choices to five per category.

BEST LINES

"It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!" Agnes, Despicable Me
"You just contact the mayor's office. He has a special signal he shines in the sky; it's in the shape of a giant cock." Hit Girl, Kick-Ass
"What is with you gays? Are you really that repulsed by lady parts? What do you think I have down there? A gnome?" Olive, Easy A
"This is Berk. It snows nine months out of the year, and hails the other three. The food that grows here is tough and tasteless. The people that grow here are even more so. The only upsides are the pets. While other places have ponies or parrots, we have... dragons." Hiccup, How to Train Your Dragon
"You would not believe what I have been through tonight!" Mr. Potatohead, Toy Story 3

The L.A. pier scene at the end of The A-Team

BEST FIGHT SCENE

Randy Couture vs. Steve Austin, The Expendables
Dre Parker vs. Cheng (the bully), The Karate Kid
The gravity-defying hallway fight between Joseph Gordon-Levitt and a thug, Inception
Scott Pilgrim vs. Gideon Graves (Jason Schwartzmann), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Eli vs. Carnegie's Gang, The Book of Eli

BEST ON-SCREEN DUO

Hiccup and Toothless, How to Train Your Dragon

Dre Parker and Mr. Han (Jaden Smith/Jackie Chan), The Karate Kid
Phil and Claire Foster (Steve Carell/Tina Fey), Date Night
Mikael Blomqvist and Lisbeth Salander (Michael Nyqvist/Noomi Rapace), The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

BEST VILLAIN(S)

Gru (Steve Carell), Despicable Me
The Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), Alice in Wonderland
Carnegie (Gary Oldman), The Book of Eli
The League of Evil Exes, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

If anyone can come up with some additional categories, that would be awesome. Not TOO many, though.

We need to do the awards.

Buscemi, Desplat's work on Ghost Writer is leagues better than King's Speech.

I forgot that Desplat did the music on The Ghost Writer, actually. Probably because he's been everywhere lately.

Hmm... Can the hero of a film still be called the villain? I don't know. I'm speaking specifically of Gru.

I've got just a couple of nominations for the categories that Shryke posted:

Best Quotes:
"Ooo, some coins." - Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
"You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount." - The Social Network

Best On-Screen Duo:
Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers, "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World"

Most Memorable Character (Male):
Max Zuckerburg, "The Social Network"
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

I thought about that, W. In the end, I included him because he spent more time during the span of the movie TRYING to be the villain than he did being the hero. By that logic, I discounted Megamind, who really stopped being the villain the moment he "defeated" Metro Man.
