I have class on Thursday and don't get home until around 830PM eastern time. If the awards start at that time or later I can make it. Also it would be nice if we can have them on some chat program as opposed to refreshing a thread all the time....

I could really do with getting all of the final nominations in within the next 48 hours, so if that is possible I'm waiting on votes from the following people:

jas8382
BanksIsDaFuture
Geezer
frendo

So could these people get them to me ASAP. Also a reminder that those of you writing a short piece on each Best Picture nomination, if you need me to post your piece can you get them to me as well. Just a reminder as to what those films are:

127 Hours - Buscemi
Black Swan - silversurfer
The Fighter - Geezer
Inception - frendo
Kick Ass - englishozzy
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World - W
The Social Network - BanksIsDaFuture
The Town - transformers
Toy Story 3 - Shrykespeare
True Grit - numbersix

I have ozzy's already, but anyone else who wants me to submit theirs can you let me know.

I probably should have asked before, but what exactly are we supposed to write?

Just a short piece, a paragraph or so, on why you like the movie and what makes it deserving of the Best Picture award.

By the way, is there any policy we want to follow regarding ties? There are a couple of awards which are tied for the moment, although there are a couple of sets of votes to come in, but are we okay with awarding two nominees an award or do we want an outright winner somehow?

Still waiting on:

jas8382

Can you guys PLEASE get your picks to me in the next 24 hours so that I can finalise the awards.

Done and done.

Also, I'll not be present during the awards due to some last minute schedule changes, so I'll get my Social Network description to you later today.

As far as ties, we always used to have tiebreaks, where you would send the tied nominees to each of the voters, and we would re-vote on just those, picking just one. Better do it today!

Phew. The positive response to that film depresses me, especially in relation to those who welcome the overthrowing of the dictators of northern Africa, considering how important Facebook was in spreading the word. As far as I'm concerned the two contradict itself.

Just sent in my paragraph(s) for Toy Story 3.

Also, regarding jas... he recently contacted me and told me he had been having "medical problems". I don't know how serious they are, or what the prognosis is, but if he neglects his Forum duties, at least you'll know why.

I'm not suggesting it won't win anything. But you'll just have to wait and see.

And thanks for that Shryke, hope he's ok. I'm pretty much ready to go tomorrow, I'll just finalise all the votes. I presume everyone else who has not as of yet sent me a paragraph on their movie is intending to post themselves? If not get them to me ASAP.
