Twilight is officially getting the widest release in box office history. It's getting much better reviews than New Moon. This is going to be huge, as much as most of you on here hate that.
Not to pick nits, but Twilight was the first, New moon the second, and this one is Eclipse.

trust me Brockster, I won't hold it against you. The fact that you messed up the titles of the movies to some of the WORST books I have ever read 4-5 pages of does not lessen you. :)

I'm still unsure about Despicable Me. The ads aren't sure of what the movie is supposed to be (recently, TV spots leave out Jason Segel in favor of Miranda Cosgrove).

Despicable Me tracking is strangely low. It seems that it will open between 15-20mil OW, which means it'll close at about 60 MIL tops. Maybe tracking is missing something.

Universal isn't one of the top companies for animation. It's looking like another Tale Of Despereaux to me (due to lackluster advertising).

Lackluster advertising? You got to be kidding me. Every time... EVERY TIME I turn on NBC, I see little yellow men dancing across the bottom of the screen. I see full commercials for it every hour. I'd hardly call that lackluster.

I'm calling it lackluster in the fact that they waited so long to tell you the film's actual premise (Universal waited almost A YEAR to do a trailer that explained what the movie was about). And now the ads are trying to tell that the film has a different premise than the premise that they first told you (the new ads are selling it as a comedy about a surrogate father rather than a battle of supervillains).

The sad thing is that a movie about real vampires often makes less than $30 million in its entire run.

well i guess my predictions will be a little off. Eclipse earned a record 65mil wed including the 30mil from midnights. transformers 2 previously held the record for a 62mil wed opening.

Well it didn't seem to be selling that well outside of midnights. The only non-midnight show that sold out in advance at the area's biggest theatre was a 7:00 pm show. Could we be seeing a huge Thursday drop?

uh no shit well be seeing a huge thursday drop. twilight and new moon both made about 50% of their opening weekend on the first day so uh yeah it will drop. but it will probably pick up a little bit durring the fri-sun weekend. guys seem to be liking this one alot more since its less romance more action so its business wont be quite as frontloaded as the last one.

Ouch, the imdb score for ECLIPSE is at 3.6 with over 5,000 votes. It would seem like the hater crowd is rushing to imdb to vote yet again (probably even if they have not seen the movie)...there are twice as many male votes as there are female. The questionable low imdb score strikes again, but we've seen this happen before (Tyler Perry movies anyone?)...however, most of us who picked this movie should have known this would happen.
