Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 6/9
I'm going to say the third weekend outdoes Rough Night's opening weekend. Outside of those free screenings (which didn't help King Arthur), there hasn't been much buzz on Rough Night. Johansson's fresh off of a big flop and the trailers are dreadful. And why is Kate McKinnon's character Australian? Was Rebel Wilson not available?
I'm going to say the top five will be Cars 3, Wonder Woman, All Eyez on Me (I'm thinking $25 million this weekend before a quick drop, this won't be another Straight Outta Compton), and a toss-up between The Mummy and Rough Night for fifth. I think 47 Meters Down becomes the first 3,000 opener to fail to hit $1,000 PTA while The Book of Henry only does $1.5 million.
I believe Megan Leavey drops 35%, The Mummy drops 55%, and It Comes at Night drops 65%.
