Some coffee from Tim Hortons and a friendly hug is usually enough to secure a ticket in the Great White North.

Too early numbers (via Deadline):

Pirates of the Caribbean $24-26 million Friday, $75-80 million four-day
Baywatch $6.5-7.5 million Friday, $23-24 million four-day (B+ Cinemascore)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 $19 million three-day, $24 million four-day
Alien: Covenant $14 million three-day, $17 million four-day (61.3% drop)

I think the industry's going to need to take a three credit course (maybe four, labs may be needed) on how not to make another film like Baywatch. I've got some lesson ideas here.

Why Dwayne Johnson Can't Sell Everything on His Own
Why Zac Efron Does Not Appeal to Male Audiences
Why Seth Gordon Should Stop Being Considered to Direct Every Comedy
Why Not Every Comedy Needs to Be Raunchy and R-Rated
Why Not Every TV Show Adaptation Needs to Be Like 21 Jump Street
Why You Don't Open a Dump Month Comedy with Dreadful Trailers on Memorial Day Weekend

I'm sure we can mine more ideas for class lessons.

Wow. That's a HARD flop for Baywatch if those numbers hold up.

And that would be great if POTC can pull in 80 mil. (It was my Round 1 pick, after all.) That pretty much guarantees at least $200M, which I will take with the ninth overall pick in a heartbeat.

Not quite, Shryke, Xmen: Crapopalypse opened to $79m across 4 days this time last year, and finished with $155m. I expect somehting similar for Pirates 5, especially with Wonder Woman and The Mummy coming up.

Yeah, a four-day weekend's going to bad for Pirates' legs (though an A- Cinemascore is promising). Next week, it will only be the third option between Wonder Woman and Captain Underpants.
