Apparently there's something I don't know about Cop Out because both of the megaplexes here are playing multiple prints of it. But then again, Warner Bros. did the same thing with Ninja Assassin and The Box and those movies flopped.

I noted this in W's thread, basically if you are over budget right now it means you probably made changes to the slates while the pricing was off in the transition from Jan to Feb. if this is the case you need to go in and update your slate because you really are over budget. That doesn't include though the fact that some slates are showing totals at the slate selection pane but then show a different total at the league list, I think it was agreed to go by the total you see at the slate page.

If you check your slate on the page where you add/drop films and you are under budget there, then it doesn't matter what it says on the league standings page.

One thing that I like is that if a movie gets bumped a few months down the road, I will chance that film's price tag to $101. Which means that the very next time you access your slate, it will give you a popup that says "you can not afford this movie", and then it will immediately drop that film from your slate.

I also know that the two things the Italians are working on next are:

1) Resolving this problem so that your slate's budget on the homepage and on the standings page match 100% of the time
2) Having a place in each league's standings page (or somewhere easily accessible) that outlines each and every film's individual stats

numbersix wrote:Don't think the PTA rule works like that. I think Shryke meant that only in the Feb-Apr leagues will A Prophet have the potential to earn PTa points over a long period.

The problem is that for the new leagues (Mar-May) A Prophet doesn't factor as PTA points only count for films released within a league's period (i.e. for the Mar-May league onyl films realease in March, April, and May can score PTa points). If you have A Prophet for the Jan-Mar and Feb-Apr leagues then you're sorted.

Am I wrong on this?
You are correct.
And, I want repeat it: these are the same rules of the old FM, not an "italian idea" :D

And if I am correct, Edge of Darkess earned only 3 pta points, because in the first week of February, the pta rank was:
1. Terribly Happy
2. Dear John
3. the Korean
4. From Paris with love
5. When in Rome

At now, we have an error in PTA and TOP5 points for the Dodgeball and Ult Round One (HY and FY) and for the Rocky League. Please, if some of you may double-check other Round Two, it would be very helpful for me.

Early reviews of the new movies:

Cop Out 15% (rotten)
The Crazies 74% (fresh and one percentage point away from being Certified Fresh)

Aww, thanks, UDM, I missed you too.

Unfortunately, computer problems kept me away all weekend.

I'm working on this week's column as we speak.

Speaking of which, UDM, shouldn't you be entering Round Three? Hmmm? (wink)

In the end, Shutter Island was Number One with Cop Out outopening The Crazies (due to Cop Out getting 700 more theatres). However, The Crazies had the better PTA and better word of mouth.

Also in a bit of a surprise, The Crazies ended up with a better Rotten Tomatoes rating than Shutter Island (70% to 67%).

Shutter Island has been out for a few weeks now while The Crazies is still in its first weekend. With more reviews expect The Crazies to drop over the coming weeks.
