Sounds like good ol Harvey-speak to me.

And looks like I was right about Begin Again topping this weekend. I'm hoping it can nab a few more points next weekend even if it goes semi-wide.

Because of the late move, very few people nabbed Begin Again for the April leagues. Kudos to the two people (including me) who did.

I'd be worried if I'd picked it hoping for a PTA juggernaut. In Harvey-speak, "everywhere" could mean "VOD".

Not this one, fortunately. He didn't Weinstein the film or dump it with Radius.

I read that it'll be playing in 175-200 theatres this weekend. Considering its counter-programming appeal, I think that it should be good enough to beat Earth to Echo's PTA, and maybe earn another 2 PTA points. Not a juggernaut, that's for sure, but not bad for $4.

I don't really pay much attention to PTA, but I don't feel any real buzz for this one like there was for Once, so that kind of expansion seems a bit high to me, especially with three wide releases and the Ebert doc hitting theatres.

Certainly not as buzzed about as Once, that's for sure.

A decent comparison would be something like Belle, which also got decent but not stunning reviews, but managed to perform well as a counter-programming offer. And Begin Again has more recognised faces in it. When Belle expanded to 173 screens it earned 5.4K. If Begin Again gets something similar, then it would possibly beat Earth to Echo and Deliver and get 1 or 2 PTA points (behind Life, Transformers, Tammy, and possibly the horror flick).

That's my logic/desperate hope, anyway.

REALLY?! thanks a lot transformers. You just had to make that extra 39k dollars to go over 100m. I think paramount sent a bunch of employees to the movies on sunday to make sure they hit their coveted 100m mark.

It appears there is some bickering between the studios about how much Transformers really made over the weekend...that's weird, I don't ever remember that happening.

Yes, it seems just about everybody other than Paramount is quite certain that Transformers made 97 million and not 100 million. What a silly world we live in when studios play this kind of game.

That's actually quite funny and slightly desperate.
