Big drop from X-Men, another big drop for Godzilla. After those opening weekends I was beginning to get a little nervous I'd left both movies off many of my slates, holding back for later movies. Looks like my decisions will be vindicated after all, probably only 11 top 5s total for Godzilla too.

The drop isn't all that surprising for X-Men coming off an inflated holiday weekend but it's definitely not going to have great legs. One of these summer movies has to stick at some point, right?

I think its too early to judge that X-Men won't stick. You are right when you say it is coming off an inflated holiday weekend, and starting next week the competition gets much less stiff. Edge of Tomorrow is going to bomb, HARD. I think that its drops will be much more reasonable until Transformers comes out.

I know Edge of Tomorrow wont be a big summer player, but it's got a strong reputation, so it could do better than expected...

I'd be shocked if it made 75 million

I've heard only great things about it since the Paris press screening of it.

I was going to say the same exact thing...
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

I think it's just the nature of the franchise. Even being a great movie, the universe still isn't for everyone. I don't think it'll nosedive like Godzilla and I still expect it to clear $200M with ease but that's it. I hope it has great legs but I'm doubtful.

Edge of Tomorrow is a strange case... I've heard nothing but good things, it has great reviews so far and it has a bonafide action hero as lead... yet I still expect it to disappoint.

I just don't see the appeal to the general audience, regardless of the reviews. And Tom Cruise isn't a box office draw anymore. Not unless it happens to be Mission Impossible.

According to Deadline Filth had a weekend PTA of $3750 and We Are the Best had a PTA of $7000.

That would give We Are the Best 3 points and Filth 1 point.
