The first one only made 85 million.... this one made 40 million in 5 days. I think people had their expectations up WAY too high if this is seen as a disappointment. Its got a strong cult following, but a lot of people also just don't get the humor.

I think that's exactly the problem with those Anchorman 2 numbers. Expectations were too high. In the end it will still make easily higher business than the 1st, but those past few weeks/months everyone was thinking the sequel could had least triple the first film's BO. It clearly won't, but it will still be solid.

I thought the Austin Powers comparison was an apt precedent. But yes, although it will do well it won't have near that kind of qualifier. I have it on most of my slates so I'm hosed for awhile I guess.
