Wow. Did not see that coming. I guess the lack of competition really does help. Glad I took it in a few slates as a filler, although I hope it won't end up with a Tyler Perry IMDB rating.

Another wow. Nebraska opened to a whopping 410,000 on its opening day alone. In 4 theatres. That suggests a weekend PTA of over 300K, an all time record for a live action film.

Perhaps there was a mistake and it's 41,000 for the Friday. We'll find out tomorrow.

I took Nebraska on pretty much every Ultimate slate, I think it is one of the most obvious choices for double digit PTA over the next couple of months, especially considering so many of the other more recent juggernauts in that department are starting to expand. Will be interesting to see how next weekend plays out what with both Hunger Games and Frozen in the mix, as well as Philomena, should be quite the battle.

I also took Best Man Holiday in as many slates as possible, though I wish I could have squeezed into my final Super League slate, just a dollar short though, so here's hoping Black Nativity can follow suit...

It was a typo. Only earned 41K on its opening Friday, suggesting a weekend PTA of about 35K. Not bad but the weakest of Payne's films. Should still do well with the older crowd through.

Bruce Dern Vs Judi Dench. That's a mud wrestle no one wants to see.

From Friday's figure (about 2K per screen) I don't think Faust will beat Dallas Buyer's Club

So Thor was overestimated by a full $2 million? I guess the Norse God has shot his Norse wad.

(I bet Variety didn't lead with that headline.)
