We're The Millers opening better than This Is The End, very good for my Yearly Draft.

And with a better CinemaScore, this should translate to $100M total. It'll make up a bit for Pacific Rim.

Prince Avalanche earned a paltry 40K in 14 theaters, for a PTA of $2,857. Won't earn any PTA points. This is a surprise and it seems that day-and-date releases destroy PTA chances.

I Give it a Year earned $5,800 from two locations, $2900 per theatre.

I can't help but wonder... why do studios put a film in theaters if it's available for download? Seems like a waste of time.

I wonder if Magnolia is going to go that route for all of its films from now on.

I hope not. Some films, if not most, are still designed to be shown on the big screen. But if Prince Avalanche becomes the norm then you'll see less and less arthouse films hitting cinemas.

Well, I know that a film has to play theatrically before or day-and-date to be eligible for any Oscars.

Plus, since the arthouse crowd skews older, I don't think a lot of them would consider VOD.
