Hopefully this will teach Gerard Butler where he should stay movie-wise...and hopefully he'll quit making dumb romantic comedies (and when I say comedies I'm using that word as loosely as possible).

Edit: I just checked his movies on boxofficemojo.com...let me retract my statement b/c it's not just rom coms...what a list of bombs (except How to Train Your Dragon and 300...and maybe Law Abiding Citizen)...this guy needs to fire his agent.

Early tracking had suggested this could do well, but man isn't it crazy that it could do better than Die Hard 5? Goes to show that nobody knows nothing.

That's certainly true, for both Butler and Aaron Eckhart. Eckhart even more.

Disappointed I didn't take Olympus on more slates, I only have it on a draft league and a 1v1. The Croods is performing as expected, which is good. I expect it will do even better over the Easter break with all the kids off school. Glad I took it on most slates. Admission bombed even greater than expected.

Yeah I got cold feet on Olympus and scratched it from a couple of slates on thursday. I still have it on a select few, and of course on the big draft, which is great.

$30 Million for Olympus Has Fallen is quite impressive. While I'm surprised that a Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart film has generated that O.W. box office, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that an Antoine Fuqua film has been this well received. After all, I've seen fit to own three of his films (Tears of the Sun, Training Day and Shooter) and have an appreciation for several others (King Arthur, Brooklyn's Finest and The Replacement Killers). While most of his films fall under the heading of action movies, they all have a very refined slickness to them that I like. Additionally, his rich and detailed attention to color schemes makes his films even more attractive. I just wish he hadn't done Bait.

So what does Olympus Has Fallen opening mean for White House Down?

The expectations for White House Down have to go up, right?
