Some times boosh the stuff you say makes even less sense than normal. So hollywood needs to stop making fanboy driven movies and return to movies for everyone to enjoy why? Is it because the fanboy movies are making TOO much money? If fanboy/girl films account for 7, count-em 7 of the top 7 movies this year then why would hollywood stop trying to appeal to the people that pay their bills? Whether you like it or not the fanboy isn't just some nerd sitting in his parents basement playing D&D all day anymore. This so called Fanboy of yours has evolved into not just social acceptable but even praised group of millions upon millions of men and women who are willing to put their hard earned cash into a product that they deem worth. Simple business 101 go where the money is. If these fanboys are still willing to show up in droves and shell out huge amounts of cash then they are going to keep making movies for them. No studio exec is going to look at the Avengers and say "you know what Joss that last movie was pretty good but I feel like we could bring in alot more people if we cut out all the superhero comicy stuff and added in a little bit of romance for the ladies, Oh and make it a cartoon so that more kids will want to go see it." You know why Marvel has been successful where DC hasn't? Because they know their main crowd is the fanboy and if they can get them to love the movie the other people will follow.

I'm still flabbergasted as to how anyone can think that the people breaking records aren't doing something right.
A little FYI the top ten movies this year will make 3.3 billion dollars thanks to the fanboy.

Box office might be up (but only because of surcharges for 3-D and IMAX) but ticket sales have been down for some time. You know why? Because Hollywood panders to the fanboy way too much. As a result, no one can enjoy a movie because you have some Comic Book Guy/Harry Knowles-type dissecting even the smallest details on something that you don't need to think about. So what does Hollywood do? Make more movies for them that have big openings but drop extremely quickly because no one but the fanboys can enjoy them.

This is an audience Hollywood needs to care less about. They are a bunch of selfish, ungrateful bastards who when given even the best, they still expect more. For once, the filmmakers and/or the studios need to say, "You know what? Go fuck yourselves. You got the best and that is what you are getting. Now go get a life because there is a place called the real world and in the real world, things aren't what you think they should be".

If Hollywood made more films for everyone, it wouldn't have taken 12 years to break Titanic's record and we would be seeing far more movies holding their audiences in later weeks.

As for the Marvel vs. DC debate: Marvel has been successful because their audience is more forgiving. Marvel has always written for children (notice how Marvel almost never writes story arcs) while DC has almost always written for adults. Therefore when Marvel makes something really bad, Marvel fans simply say, "The next one will be better". When DC makes something bad, it's gets complaints because the product hardly has anything to do with the property (Catwoman, The Losers, Jonah Hex) or it was too slanted towards one audience (Watchmen). Also, there is the problem with Warner Bros. forcing way too many changes on certain films (such as the studio-mandated decision to cast Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern).
Everything on this post is strictly the opinion and only the opinion of Buscemi.

I would just like to point out that due to a lower percentage of people seeing movies in 3d the average ticket price this year is actually the same as in past years which accounting for inflation actually puts tickets cheaper this year than last and the year before it. And when you add in the fact that this year box office receipts will be over 10.7 billion (a new record by the way) that means that attendance is actually up this year over last. If this year does end at its low end expectations of 10.7 billion that would put its attendance at 1.349 billion which is about average for that past 5 years or so. While the last 7 years of box office hasn't measured up to the first half of the 2000s overall attendance hasn't really varied much since the mid nineties. So to sum up Attendance stagnant revenue up.

With hindsight Lincoln was a must-have in any league, especially in Ultimate. I wonder why I picked it just in the box-office leagues.
After disappointing in their first weekends, Rust and bone and SLP showed they were worth buying, for what concerns top 5 at least, I would say the same thing for ROTG. Now I'm not happy anymore for putting it in the bankrupt.
Anyway, the point is: no competition over the last three weeks, isn'it?

Great Scott ! Indeed that's a lot of PTA points and Top 5 points for those films ! The lack of competition at the beginning of December turned them into "blockbusters" of the game.
But if those numbers are confirmed, wel all pretty much sucked this weekend in the Over/Under game...
