Mel Gibson's return to movies will help out Edge of Darkness greatly. Plus it has an advantage over Taken from last year and From Paris with Love this year by not coming out on Super Bowl weekend.

I've been seeing $10 million on Leap Year and $7 million on Youth In Revolt.

Meanwhile, I'm surprised about Daybreakers' numbers. It looks like the kind of thing that Lionsgate would have dumped into second-run last summer (mainly due to the fact that it was filmed three years ago).

As long as it doesn't look like it was filmed three years ago, I don't think it makes a difference.

Man, Avatar is staying up there. It should be able to break the fifth weekend record with relative ease and probably win the MLK weekend.

It will probably stay at the top until early February. Nothing will stop it until Valentine's Day opens, probably.

Unless Eli or Edge does well... Maybe Paris as well. IMO one of those films are going to break out. The Denzel/Gibson/Travolta effect has to hit one out of three I would think.

I'd take From Paris With Love as the darkhorse, Eli is coming out with Avatar still going strong, while I don't think Gibson has the box office pull he once had. I'd take the director of Taken with Travolta as the one to break the Avatar monopoly.

I was kind of thinking that as well. Also, The Tooth Fairy could surprise like The Game Plan did, though I doubt it. The Disney marketing machine isn't behind this one.

I actually think Dear John will outopen From Paris With Love. From Paris With Love is rated R so the the younger teen boys will be forced to sit through Dear John with their girlfriends.

Agreed on Dear John beating Paris with Love. Paris looks like utter crap. I am an action junkie and I don't even want to see it. John Travolta, just stop, you can't pull off these roles.

I think Tooth Fairy will be able to win its opening weekend. I can just imagine how people would react if Avatar finally got stopped by Tooth Fairy.
