If the film doesn't live up to expectation, it will be because it is opening in too crowded a marketplace. None of the other reasons Boosh is rambling on about hold any water.

The age difference is a non issue, I think because Lawrence's character looks like she could be 26-28 and Cooper can easily play early 30s.

So, looks like Silver Linings won't be expanding wide on Thanksgiving. Probably due to low tracking Weinstein Co are going to platform it over the holidays and go wide late December or early Jan, depending on demand.

I could be eating some serious humble pie if this ends up like Young Adult.

Really ? Mmmm... If it goes that route indeed, I might have to reconsider some of my BO slates...

Damn, Skyfall is holding well through Monday and Tuesday. I am very impressed...this movie is going to have great legs...wish I would have picked it on all of my slates, BO and ULT, instead of just a few.

The November 21st expansion for Silver Linings Playbook has been reduced from 1,500 theatres to only 400 (with a second expansion to 800 theatres planned for November 30th). It looks like even The Weinstein Company realizes how hard of a sell the film is.

Now, if the Weinstein Company tries to comfort Boosch in his idea... ;)

To make matters worse, The Weinstein Company is now facing itself by pitting it against Killing Them Softly (which I mentioned has gotten a lot more marketing). An independent company does not have the resources to pull this off successfully and it could very well mean that both films will die quickly (though Killing Them Softly is bound to have a bad Cinemascore and poor word-of-mouth).

I've seen much more marketing for Silver Linings.

Same here, I've seen probably about 3 times more ad's for Silver Linings Playbooks then Killing Them Softly.

By the way, everyone, I'll be making a getaway to California for a couple of days, and I'll be back late Sunday. I'll bring my laptop with me, so I may check in briefly, but that's it.

I guess it's an East Coast/West Coast thing then. Killing Them Softly has been marketed through the roof here (trailer placement on a number of films and god knows how many different posters) but I've seen only two trailers (a teaser and a final trailer on different movies, one of which only played in a few markets) and a standee for Silver Linings Playbook.
