Exactly, it's the same concept, but you can't say it's a sequel. The returning actors are not playing the same characters they played in Valentine's Day. It's just a similarly concepted film, not a sequel. They are trying to put in the mind of the audience it may be a sequel ;)

New Year's Eve has a 6% on Rotten Tomatoes (1/17). The one positive review has a hacky quote whore comment, the kind that I never expected to see again ever since Joel Siegel died.

And as expected, early reviews for The Sitter have confirmed that David Gordon Green has officially jumped the shark. It is currently a 22% after nine reviews, with some of the negative reviews being extremely vicious. Though strangely enough, the AV Club liked it.

And only 42 of those 400 screens are getting The Dark Knight Rises prologue, what the fuck is WB thinking?

Christopher Nolan only wanted the prologue released in theatres playing Mission: Impossible on film. To me, this is like releasing The Dark Knight only on laserdisc.

That's retarded. How could he not realize only about 10% of IMAX screens were actual 70MM, and not digital?

And it makes no sense, because TDKR will be shown in all formats when it comes out anyway.

Estimated weekends from Deadline:

1. New Year's Eve - $16M
2. The Sitter - $9M
3. Twilight: Breaking Dawn - $7M
4. The Muppets - $7M
5. Arthur Christmas - $6.5M
6. Hugo - $6M
7. The Descendants - $4.3M
8. Happy Feet Two - $4M
9. Jack And Jill - $3M
10. Immortals - $2.5M

New Year's Eve and The Sitter both flop massively. NYE won't even get a third of Valentine's Day opening weekend, and that opened against Percy Jackson & The Wolfman who both made over 30M the same weekend.

According to Box Office Guru (via HSX) both Young Adult and Tinker Tailor are looking at $300K for the weekend, giving Young Adult a PTA of about $40K and Tinker Tailor a PTA of $80K, the latter being the highest of the year.

Nothing on We Need to Talk About Kevin yet.

Twilight, $2,500,000
The Muppets, $1,664,000

The Descendants, $1,315,000
Jack and Jill, $870,000

Nah. They'll probably open better than the previous film in the franchise.

I don't know, I think Mission Impossible 4 will the film to take advantage of the dearth of interesting movies to see.

Alvin & Sherlock will both get around $200M, like expected. But M:I4 should handily outgross the 3rd one, and probably end up somewhere around $175M.
