Depp probably doesn't need the money, but look at his career those past few years, money clearly is what draws him to a film, with only a few rare exceptions...

Breaking Dawn will win the next three weekends.

Man, November looks pretty gross this year. I saw Tower Heist and Harold and Kumar (and I really didn't care if I saw either or not before I saw them)... There's literally one movie I want to see between now and Christmas (Muppets!) not counting any limited releases that we probably won't get until the 2012 calendar year. And I'm not even sure about the Christmas week's movies either.

Eh... Maybe I'll see J. Edgar this week?

Breaking Dawn will spend three weeks at #1 barring a huge second week drop (from someone at HSX who saw an advance screening, they said it was the worst one yet). With the current $140 million projection, I estimate a second week drop of 75-80% (this is going to drop harder than New Moon and the last Harry Potter did) for a $28-35 million second week followed by a 60-65% third week drop for $10-14 million.

This could make Happy Feet Two, The Muppets and Hugo all possible for taking the top spot in the second or third week.

Damn, I was going to call for Immortals to win the weekend too... Should have went with my gut. If that number holds for Jack and Jill I'm embarrassed for our nation.

I'm impressed by Immortals numbers, An R rated sword and sandal film by a minor distributor, not bad. Definitely not worth the price in the game, but also not a good bankrupts pick

When I heard no less than three of my coworkers were going to see it at midnight, I knew we were all underestimating its potential.

I saw Immortals last night. It tried SO HARD to be 300, but it didn't even come close. Yes, Mickey Rourke could kick Rodrigo Santoro's tool ass up and down, and the effects were cool, but the story was just two notches above The Three Musketeers.

Friday Estimates:

Immortals, $15M
Jack and Jill, $9.85M
Puss in Boots, $9M
Tower Heist, $4.9M
J. Edgar, $4.25M
Harold & Kumar, $2.3M
Paranormal Activity 3, $1.38M
Footloose, $1.04M
Real Steel, $685K
Moneyball, $375K

No word on In Time.

Weekend projections (BoxOffice):

Immortals, $36M
Jack and Jill, $26.5M
Puss in Boots, $26.3M
Tower Heist, $13.7M
J. Edgar, $11.5M
Harold & Kumar, $5.7M
In Time, $4.2M
Paranormal Activity 3, $3.7M
Footloose, $2.8M
Real Steel, $1.9M

Wow. And I predicted, what, $12M for Immortals? Don't I feel like a dunce...

Wow, Immortals numbers are amazing. I can't believe it. I trusted the predictions, and now I feel like a fool too. I haven't grabbed it anywhere, except probably Bankrupt. Damn. I wish those were Jack & Jill numbers ;)

It's funny how you trash The Three Musketeers' story when it's said to be one of the most faithful versions of the story, Shryke (the airships were about the only thing added or changed from the book).

I'm not trashing the story itself, it's the WAY it was told, which was a complete joke.
