Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 10/7/11
The Way had double the PTA of Dirty Girl...in almost four times the theatres. This is not good for old Harvey.
Everything on this post is strictly the opinion and only the opinion of Buscemi.

Glad I went with other movies over Ides Of March. For it's $ value $10m just won't equate to a good enough multiple, even with good holds.

That's true, SS, although Michael Clayton did open to 10mil (when it went wide) and made 49mil cume.

3 PTA for 3 bucks? I'll take it!

The greatest news of the weekend results is the addition of PTA points collected by Take Shelter

Normally I'd agree with you, but as the prices for this months movies are generally pretty low I'm hoping for big numbers from my PTA movies, ie, close to if not more than double their dollar value. Hence I'm a little disappointed I didn't go with Take Shelter, though I think The Skin I Live In should be able to at least match that.Geezer wrote:3 PTA for 3 bucks? I'll take it!

The Skin I live in wasn't as successful as other Almodovar films in Europe, at least in France and Spain, but I guess it should do good PTA business in the US.

Chien, it's doing similar business to Broken Embraces (it made less than Broken Embraces in France, but more in the UK). It's certainly a more "commercial" film than his last few, so I think it'll do well, and be a PTA champ for the next 2 weeks.

There's no doubt it will be the PTA champ this week-end, but I wouldn't bet on it for the following weekend... There is one film to beat that following weekend...

Well, as for Martha Marcy May Marlene, it all depends on theatre count. If The Skin I Live in opens like Broken Embraces did (2 theatres for 3 weekends, then slowly expanding), I think it could beat Martha in its second week. But we'll see.
