Flags of Our Fathers and Letters From Iwo Jima did not star Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon, Boush.

Changeling had similar star power and that was a box office disappointment.
Also, will very many Americans be interested in a film about rugby? Or believe for one second that Matt Damon is a capable rugby player?

Everything on this post is strictly the opinion and only the opinion of Buscemi.

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - THE FILMS OF 12/4
Invictus has a better release date than Changeling. It has a better ad campaign than Changeling. And Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon have a lot more star power than Angelina, whose fan base only turns out if she's clad in leather and toting a variety of BFG's. And plus, Invictus is a lot more uplifting than Changeling, which was decidedly dark, even gruesome. Plus, the story of Mandela is a lot more well-known than that of Christine Collins.
Changeling, as it turns out, recieved more nominations than Gran Torino (which got none), but nobody could have known that GT would have been so universally snubbed by Academy voters at the time. GT was much more of an Oscar-bait picture than Changeling was.
And even though it WAS snubbed, GT made nearly $150 million. Invictus may not make $100M, but it'll make a lot more than Changeling's paltry $35 million. It will appeal to the fan base of Eastwood, Damon, Freeman, and possibly even to African-Americans in general.

Not to mention sports fans, biopic fans, and anyone generally interested in history.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man. - The Dude

Yep, it'll do decent. And I buy Damon as a rugby player. I think he looks just like one, actually.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.
