There was almost no marketing in the US. An American trailer wasn't released until a month before opening and most of the print ads were spent on promoting Ben Stiller's involvement as producer rather than the plot.

It's possible that The Weinstein Company slashed the marketing budget to put more money in its August and September releases (Our Idiot Brother, Apollo 18, Shelter and I Don't Know How She Does It).

Darn. I think I chose Beautiful Boy on a couple slates. Oh, well, two is better than none. I think I also had Beginners and Submarine on a couple as well. Don't think I had X-Men on any.

i did the same shryke, i had beautiful boy on two june slates, so i agree, 2PTA is better than none. I also had xmen on a few slates, but thankfully not on all of them. I guess it's not really a slate killer like sucker punch was, but it's not the greatest pick either.

I am, however, glad that i have tree of life on quite a few of my ultimate slates. 10 PTA with a few more to come for $6 is a bargain.

I did a literal LOL when I saw Love, Wedding, Marriage's numbers....holy hell...BOMB (expected bomb for sure, but damn, $1300 total?)

Also, I noticed Midnight In Paris is expanding yet again this week...so glad I picked it up on a few slates, along w/ Tree of Life (would have to imagine that is going to go wide sometime in the next few weeks).

I'm amazed that Love, Wedding, Marriage even went to theatres. It seems like the type of movie that premieres on Lifetime or goes straight to DVD.
