Wow, didn't expect Hop to do quite THAT well. I passed on it in all slates. In fact, I think the only April films I'm taking in the April-June leagues are In a Better World and Fast Five (and possibly Incendies).
Happy 60th birthday Jet Li! (4/26/23)

I considered Hop like ten times, then trusted in HSX and went with Rio... Should've went with my gut.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

Rio will end up with the higher gross. Hop will drop as soon as people realize the minions from Despicable Me aren't in it (the fact that they were in the ads has to be the main reason why it didn't open like The Tale of Despereaux did).

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 4/1/11
I think I saw Friday's average for Rubber and it was below Super's, which doesn't bode well for it.
Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 4/1/11
Wow, I'm glad I dropped Hop from my BK slate...and pissed I didn't pick it up on any of my regular slates.
Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 4/1/11
Rubber flopped (insert joke here).
Phil Ochs is back on the PTA charts...wish I could still get points for it

Rubber's PTA was $3,269 (5 theaters). Phil Ochs doesn't count because it's a January movie, and its PTA-earning time ran out at the end of March. And hats off to Win Win and Jane Eyre, they just keep on going.

Hop - 5.4
Source Code - 8.1
Insidious - 7.2
In a Better World - 7.7
Super - 7.4
Rubber - 6.2
Glad I dropped Super for Better World. Much better buy for $4.

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 4/1/11
Super was marketed horribly by IFC (they didn't have a trailer out until four weeks before release). Had a major studio picked it up, it would have gotten a much better marketing campaign and opening (however, it would have needed many cuts to get an R rating).

To GET an R rating? Or to get a PG-13 rating?

To get an R rating. The film is so violent that IFC and James Gunn were forced to release it unrated.
