Rotten Tomatoes ratings so far:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: 44% (the first film had a 53%)
Sucker Punch: 25% (looks like it's The Spirit rather than 300)

Official theater counts:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 - 3,167
Sucker Punch - 3,033
Potiche - 7
Miral - 4

Estimates for next week:

Hop - 3,400
Source Code - 2,800
Insidious - 2,300 (seen virtually no ads for this... you'd think something from the creators of the two most successful recent horror franchises would promote this better)
Super - N/A
Rubber - N/A

And King's Speech is being re-upped to about 1,000 theaters.

I've seen only one TV spot for Insidious...on Bravo. Yes, Bravo. I think the problem with the advertising is that it is from a first-time distributor that is still trying to hang of things. They'll probably get better on their second release (Don't Be Afraid of the Dark).

However, I do have a friend who saw some TV spots (she's a much bigger television watcher than me) and wants to see it.

Sucker Punch did 50% of Watchmen's midnights (Warner Bros. is probably disappointed since this was PG-13 and Watchmen was R). Normally this would translate to a $27.5 million opening weekend but the way that test audiences and critics are trashing it, expect the midnight crowd to spread bad word-of-mouth as well.

Early Friday Numbers and Weekend Estimates from Deadline:

Sucker Punch $7.5-8 million, $20 million weekend
Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 $6 million, $20 million weekend

I imagine Sucker Punch will go down (to about $18 million) and Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 will go up (to $23-24 million).

I've seen a couple of TV spots for Insidious. It looks creepy, but sort of like a mix between Amityville Horror and Case 39.

Plus, it seems to be relying heavily on their whole "Insidious Is Insidious Is" theme, which is annoying as hell.

Update from Deadline:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 $8.4 million Friday/$24.5 million weekend
Sucker Punch $7 million Friday/no weekend estimate (I'm guessing $17-18 million)

Numbers sure have been everywhere today.

Anyways when I saw Cedar Rapids today, there were a lot of people at Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 and the word-of-mouth was very positive.

Sunday Estimates:

Top 5:
5 points - Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2, $24.4M
4 points - Sucker Punch, $19.0M
3 points - Limitless, $15.2M
2 points - The Lincoln Lawyer, $11.0M
1 point - Rango, $9.8M

PTA:
5 points - Win Win
4 points - Miral
3 points - Potiche
2 points - Jane Eyre

So Miral DOESN'T bust. Huh.

In other news, both Rango and Just Go With It eclipse the $100M earned mark.
