That bears well for A Dangerous Method. Festival response was more negative than that, so perhaps there's life in the movie yet.
Arthus Christmas is of course going to get good reviews. It's a critics film. Pity it's such a crowded weekend. If it went up against New Year's Eve and that Jonah Hill film it could fare better in the game.

Breaking Dawn's imdb score is currently 3.8....which is pretty much inline w/ what everyone who took this movie thought it would be.

Hugo reminds me of Golden Compass....American audiences just won't get it (me included). Like someone had notetd earlier...I saw the preview and just have no fucking clue what it's about...except that it's in 3D

I think Arthur Christmas might break out, it's getting good reviews and I was about to say it was the only Xmas movie this year, but there was Harold and Kumar (how could I already forget about that? lol). But a lot of families look forward to taking their kids to Xmas movies...and this is about it this year. So it's got that going for it too.

It could get a few in the second and third weekends. It's likely to be the only film post-Thanksgiving not to drop big and The Sitter is going to be a disaster (is there even an audience for an R-rated remake of Adventures in Babysitting?), leading Hugo to have another small drop.

Where's the audience? It's just a kids' movie with R-rated humor.

I think it will have the same audience as Get Him to the Greek (60M) and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (62M).

But those two were sold on Apatow's name (and Get Him To The Greek had awful trailers). This movie has a second-tier member of Apatow's troupe and a director whose last film was a major disaster (that killed any chance of Danny McBride ever leading a movie again).
