Early Transformers 3 word: it's only a minor improvement from Revenge of the Fallen.

Everybody will still be picking the same two movies so its not really an advantage to anyone, its how you use the rest of the money i suppose.

Have seen nothing for Larry Crowne over here but pretty sure its not getting released for another month. I cant see Transformers topping Revenge of the Fallen and i think Cars 2 wont have too much of a drop due to it being a kids film and Pixar.

1. Transformers: Dark of the Moon - $99 million ($120 million 4-day and $155 million 6-day)
2. Cars 2 - $50 million ($60 million 4-day)
3. Larry Crowne - $30 million ($38 million 4-day)
4. Bad Teacher - $14 million ($20 million 4-day)
5. Green Lantern - $8 million ($12 million 4-day)

hey dont blame all 9 people on the pricing committee Im sure my prices for transformers and HP were the high balls thrown out. also whats up with everyone low balling the Wednesday and Thursday of transformers? 2 opened on a wed made 62mil then 29mil on thur. now I expect TF3 to build up some good word of mouth with its opening 2 days and for them to be a little less than TF2 but 60mil, 40, 35? not a movie this big.

Transformers is currently 35% fresh on rotten tomatoes...34 reviews in so far.

Compare to Transformers 1: 57% and Transformer 2: 20%

I was just putting together my slate thinking the same thing. They are DRASTICALLY underpriced. If you want both, it should run your entire total. There are going to be a LOT of similar slates.

Edit: I too thought the Italians set the prices.

I'm not so sure, as other than those two, the remaining movies are all very evenly priced so while the two tentpoles will be on everyone's slates, the remaining money can be spent on a wide variety of films.

But just the fact that those two will be on every slate... if its not even a thought as to whether the film should be on your slate, its too low. The goal should be to eliminate the no-brainers, to create the challenge. You had to take a RISK to put a 61 dollar Dark Knight on your slate, one which paid off to those with the balls to take it. When everyone can look at the listings and say "well obviously 2/3 of my slate will be comprised of these two" it eliminates the variety, because people only have 1/3 of a slate to mess around with, not the full 100 bucks.

I see your point, though I do wonder, while those two have obviously lower price tags, do not the remainder of the movies coming also have low ones too? There don't seem to be too many movies in the $20 range (in fact, there are only two - at $20 each), so consequently, while in previous seasons we could pick one tentpole and one in the $20 range, along with a couple of $10 movies, now we have a whole host of films in the $11-$20 range which are available. So maybe it all evens out eventually?

Potential proof that 3-D is dead: only 35% of Transformers pre-sales are of the 3-D version (30% IMAX, 5% REAL-D).

Hmm. Despite the flaws to the new movie, I'd heard the 3D was pretty good. Obviously too much of a backlash against it maybe, even though this one was filmed in 3D. I guess most movie goers can't tell the difference between those filmed in 3D and those with it applied in post production, and so have just abondended the entire concept.

I had read this was post-conversion since Bay shot it with anamorphic lenses.

damn wrestler, you just beat me to it! I'm pretty impressed w/ those numbers, glad I switched at the last second to put it on most of my slates (ultimate slates is what I mean, already had it on all the BO slates).

no, only parts were filmed in 3D, some scenes weren't, some scenes were. that's why the confusion.

also, I can understand the backlash. i have only seen avatar and tron in 3d as well as a few animated ones. while i have nothing against 3d, i never saw the need to pay 3 dollars extra when i could see the same movie for less. and especially, when 90% of the 3d films of the last 2 years have been shoddy post conversion.
