Re: SPEARES HIATUS: TAKE IT TO THE BANKS - THE FILMS OF 7/1,
Yeah those Magic Mike numbers are awful. Glad I stayed away from this one and Terminator.

I'm glad somebody notices my lame Simpsons references that I squeeze into these write-ups!Shrykespeare wrote:BanksIsDaFuture wrote:
change the storyline somehow, with the time travel and the alternate timelines and the Khalessi (glavin!).
LMAO!!
And holy shit, I did not see Magic Mike falling that hard after wining Wednesday.

Re: SPEARES HIATUS: TAKE IT TO THE BANKS - THE FILMS OF 7/1,
Maybe a long shot, but i'm hoping for some great holds with the decent rating and cinema score from Magic Mike. Ted 2 is a total flop already, has only made about a quarter of the original and it's falling hard. That's what i get for not going with my gut and instead picking 2 sequels of inexplicable hits.
Thank God for Jurassic World or i'd be in the shitter, hoping to eek out another $75M-$100M from that one.

Re: SPEARES HIATUS: TAKE IT TO THE BANKS - THE FILMS OF 7/1,
Magic Mike XXL had no buzz whatsoever. Had it come out a year after the original, it would have done decently. But with a three-year wait, any memories of the original were completely forgotten (and Tatum isn't the sure bet he was in 2012).
And it's probably never going to break even either as Warner Bros. likely spent a lot on ad buys like on some of their other summer movies (they spent $41 million on Entourage's ad campaign, for example).
Probably just as surprising is Me and Earl and the Dying Girl totally flatlining in wide release. All that buzz from Sundance and it seems like no one's seeing it (I wonder if Fox kept this one low-key to avoid it overshadowing Paper Towns).

Everything on this post is strictly the opinion and only the opinion of Buscemi.

Re: SPEARES HIATUS: TAKE IT TO THE BANKS - THE FILMS OF 7/1,
What I'm most upset about is that thanks to a stupid 500k Inside out won't get to be the #1 movie to never win a weekend. I hate seeing My Big Fat Greek Wedding at the top of that list and it would have been nice to not have to look at that name anymore when scrolling the all time section of BOM.
