Re: 2016 Box Office Contest - Pick the Top 20
Not good for anyone who picked Pete's Dragon
If we don't get a Passengers trailer soon, do we start thinking it'll be bumped to Spring/Summer 2017? There's no posters, no trailers, no clips, nothing from Comic-Con, it hasn't been announced to play any festivals....
Sony has two movies dated for next summer that will 100% not make their dates: Uncharted for 6/30 and Jumanji for 7/28. Not hard to imagine Passengers taking either date. Hmmm

I don't know what they're thinking putting a space film just after Rogue One anyway... You'd think they'd have to make it summer or Thanksgiving.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

A couple of Passengers official photos have emerged in Entertainment Weekly. But it sure doesn't look like the best idea to release "another" space movie at Christmas.

I don't think there is too much to worry about Passengers, I imagine they are going to put the first trailer out with The Magnificent Seven since Sony is putting that film out as well which features Chris Pratt. As far as releasing I imagine it would be better to release Passengers after Rogue One then next summer because who is going to want to see two space movies with Chris Pratt.

UPDATE #3
Here are the totals as of Jan 2nd in billions
Nspan: 5.084
Chien: 5.012
Spectre: 4.957
Numbersix: 4.931
Walleye: 4.771
UDM: 4.715
W: 4.635
Transformers2: 4.597
Jas: 4.544
JohnErle: 4.451
Ron B: 4.425
Brockster: 4.401
Banks: 4.338
There's still some juice left in Passengers, Sing, Assassin's Creed, and Rogue One (although that won't matter since we all picked it), but it looks like NSpan nailed it. What's annoying about that is that he didn't even try, and he had the exact same slate as me but I had Bourne and Ghostbusters on my [EDIT] bench, while he had Neighbours 2 and TMNT2 on his. Damn you, NSpan, wherever you are.
Will do a final tally in mid Jan, and will launch this year's contest.

If that's the case you should be ahead of him, no ? Bourne and Ghostbusters made more than Neighbours and TMNT 2, or I'm wrong ?numbersix wrote:he had the exact same slate as me but I had Bourne and Ghostbusters on my slate, while he had Neighbours 2 and TMNT2 on his.

The films Six has on his bench (Ghostbusters and Bourne 5), NSpan has in his 20, while NSpan's bench (TMNT 2 and Neighbors 2), Six had in his 20.
