I'm sure he meant insurgent.

I don't get the love for The Martian. Ridley Scott hasn't been a guaranteed blockbuster in a long time.

It's an outer space thriller/drama in the fall. Gravity and Interstellar say it'll do just fine.

Plus Damon hasn't toplined a big movie since Elysium, so it could be spun as his big comeback to large budget tentpoles.

"From the director of Alien & Blade Runner" ain't gonna hurt either.

I've read the book "The Martian" is based on, and if I had to sum it up in a movie combination, it's Gravity meets Apollo 13. So even if Ridley Scott isn't the director he used to be 30 years ago, he should be good enough to pull it off, and he's still a respected name with that "Director of Alien and Blade Runner" label. And with Damon, Jessica Chastain, Sean Bean, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara and Michael Peña in front of the camera and a fall release, it's got a lot going for it.

Thanks for all the entries so far, guys.

Interestingly, this year is showing a significant lack of diversity so far. There's still almost 48 hours to enter!

It seems that almost all of us have the same 15-17 films, with a mix and match for the last 3-4 spots.

Yep, 15 films have been picked by all of us. Probably a reflection of the film industry. The big get bigger, the small get smaller.

In the fall edition there were 12 films we all agreed on, and 3 more that were picked by 90% of us, so 15 doesn't seem like a huge difference, but the interesting thing this time is that there's less consensus about the #1 pick. Four of us have picked Star Wars, while the rest went with The Avengers, but there was universal agreement in the fall edition about Avengers and Hunger Games finishing 1-2. I haven't checked for duplicate slates, but it's possible that the #1 pick will be used as a tiebreaker for the first time ever.
