I believe the Avatar sequels have moved to a new planet and will now take place on Katy Perry's breasts, so you might have to reconsider.

Is anybody interested in doing another one of these in September that would run from October until next September?

Doing one at this time of the year would make the fall movies safer picks and next year's summer blockbusters more of a gamble since we haven't seen any footage from most of them. It might be an interesting alternative to a January draft where the summer movies are the safest picks.

Mmm, I hadn't seen that proposition of yours John, and as a lover of long-run games, I would be up for it, definitely.

Well, the cool kids have already signed up, so that should get the ball rolling. Maybe I should start a seperate thread.

I know I'm not one of the cool kids, but it sounds like a good idea to me. I'd do it.

Surfer may be a cool kid, but since I didn't understand much of what was coming out of his mouth when I met him because of that Liverpool accent, I wouldn't say for sure ;)
Oh no wait he's craving for Snowpiercer as much as me, so he IS a cool kid, definitely.

Well, it's about time I started counting BO figures, especially with most summer films closing.

So, below is the first count of the game, in order from highest to lowest. I've included how many films everyone has left to open to give a sense of potential (and for me to not feel too bad that I'm near the bottom). Obviously 3 of those films (Thor, Hobbit 2, and Catching Fire) are on everyone's list.

LEAGUE STANDINGS IN MILLIONS
Empire: 3016 (4 films to open)
JohnE: 3011 (4 films to open)
Tranny: 2992 (5 films to open)
Shryke: 2947 (5 films to open)
Chien: 2921 (6 films to open)
UDM: 2918 (6 films to open)
Brockster: 2898 (4 films to open)
Redraider: 2864 (6 films to open)
Shonenbat: 2862 (5 films to open)
Surfer: 2848 (5 films to open)
W: 2842 (6 films to open)
Supershaan: 2809 (5 films to open)
Jas: 2805 (7 films to open)
Englishozzy: 2802 (6 films to open)
Banks: 2744 (5 films to open)
Wrestler: 2708 (6 films to open)
Six: 2592 (8 films to open)
Buscemi: 2545 (7 films to open)

As you can see, it's all very close, although it seems anyone who picked World Ward Z or The Heat have a major advantage.

And don't forget to take part in the Mid-season Top 20 game that John E is running. Deadline is coming up.

I should savour being within 5 million of the lead because that's as close as I'm going to get.

If you're getting your ass kicked in the Super Contest, you have a chance to redeem yourself in the Mega Contest a few threads down. Cloudy 2 is off the table, but there's still plenty of other choices to make. Deadline is end of the day tomorrow.

It definitely was a good idea to take World War Z, glad I did. On the other hand, I would have prefer not taking White House Down.

If only briefly, It's nice to see my name at the top. Would not have guessed it. Of course, not enough box office left for me to stay there. Maybe I'll just continue to view this post after the final tally is posted.
