But The Fast and the Furious didn't dilute itself with straight-to-DVD installments and feature actors who audiences got tired of in record time.

Another problem with American Pie when comparing it to The Fast and the Furious: director and writer instability. Every installment of American Pie has had a different director (and the writers are rarely the same too) and there seems to be an "American Pie director curse" in that the careers of every sequel's director falls apart afterwards. The Fast and the Furious has had the same director and writer for the past three films and audiences and the studio were rewarded with the best reviewed installment in last year's Fast Five.

American Reunion is nothing more than a bad attempt at nostalgia and will likely make most of its money on DVD. The target audience has grown up and moved on. Modern teenagers have new comedic heroes and favorite comedies and won't show up for "That Kid Who Fucked The Pie Part VII".

With Jack the Giant Killer being pushed to next year, aren't you all glad we agreed on the bench system?

So, Boosch now puts Titanic 3D on his slate. Do you think it'll make over $100m? Risky, but perhaps a good move considering its popularity and the anniversary.
Shryke puts Expendables 2 on his slate. Yes, it now has added Jean Claude and Dolph, but the poor WoM of the first film may see this underperform.
UDM places American Reunion on his. Oh dear. Could be a big hit but as Boosch said it feels like a too-little-too-late nostalgia cash-in
SS adds PRometheus to his slate. Damn good trailer, but could it spark interest in a lagging franchise? Well, I'm thinking it will, but that could be naive hope!
Ozzy adds Battleship, the board-game-becomes-blockbuster. Not sure on this one but doesn't feel like anything more than a minor hit.

Obviously next year I'm gonna wait til we are a little closer to the deadline before setting my list in stone... However, I feel out of all the new movies added from the benches that Prometheus has the most potential to do well, well that's what I'm hoping anyway.

Another thing that will not help The Expendables 2: it's going to be PG-13 this time (due to co-star Chuck Norris demanding the rating). This means a lot less violence and the action was one of the main reasons why people flocked to the first one.

Wait, did Chuck Norris actually demand that, or is that a Chuck Norris Joke?

Nope, he said little kids wouldn't be able to see it with the R (like little kids are flocking to a Chuck Norris/Van Damme/Schwarznegger/Stallone movie  ) and he wouldn't do the film with the R.

And I think the violence will still be there, just maybe not Rambo-level gore.

I didn't realize Norris had enough power in Hollywood to have such demands, and that those demands be heard and executed... It's crazy.

Do you know who Chuck Norris is? Chuck Norris is so persuasive he once convinced a mirror that he wasn't there.

I hear that ghosts sit around the campfire to tell Chuck Norris stories.

Good picks, Tranny. Mostly strong contenders, though I question whether WWZ can make $120m+ over Christmas, or whether Paranormal Activity 4 will be that big. I was considering I Hate You Dad for my slate, as if it got Grown-Up numbers it could hit the Top 20, but held off after Jack and Jill performed poorly.
