That was my runner-up pick but it’s hard to trust that the reshoots will fix the test screening feedback.Chienfantome wrote:Well, I'll go with The Woman in the Window. Best-seller, May release, marquee cast and director, I didn't think it'd be available in round 6, I'll take it.

Re: The 2020 Calendar Year Draft Thread
I'm always wary of those test screenings feedbacks. Half of the time, movies are good in the end, and work well at the BO. History of cinema has seen many films suffer bad test screenings, and encounter success in the end in spite of it. At this time of the draft, I figure The Woman in the Window has better potential than most of the films left on the table. Besides, a film being disappointing has never prevented a success to occure, as long as audiences are curious and want to see the film, and this one is based on a big enough best-seller, and has an intriguing enough premise, and a stellar enough cast to attract interest during a slow summer.
Or maybe I'm just saying all this to convince myself I'm not making a bad choice

Ah, fuck it. I'll jump on New Mutants and hope it finally sees the light of day. Maybe Maisie Williams can bring in a few fans in her first post-GoT role.

I will take Tom And Jerry for Round 6 and The French Dispatch for Round 7, I guess.

Re: The 2020 Calendar Year Draft Thread
Six hours into UDMs turn, feels about time for a recent pick recap. First off, there are question marks surely still regarding the likes of Snake Eyes, The Croods 2, The New Mutants and The Mitchell's vs The Machines. Some if not all of those I suspect will be bumped. Other than them, the biggest question mark for me was Respect. As six rightly pointed out, its very much a boom or bust pick, and highly dependent on reviews I suspect. Vanessa Hudson hasn't had it great of late with Cats, but what I've heard is she has smashed the vocals for this one, so musically alone it has got off a good start.
Beyond that, I like the picks of Without Remorse, The Hitman's Bodyguard's Wife and The Invisible Man, think they are all capable of hitting $50m+. Not so sure on the likes of The Gentlemen, which I don't think reviewed very well here in the UK and won't mark a return to form for Guy Ritchie. The Woman In The Window and Last Night In Soho are interesting picks, could go really well or could disappear without any fanfare.
Definitely at a tricky stage of the draft. By now in our usual leagues we are usually into our 8th or 9th round, and so finding the gems are harder to come by. But there will surely be a couple of break outs beyond the $30m mark I suspect. Just got to find them!
